Chapter exploration

Vectors: lines and perpendicular feet

Explore

Compare r=(1,2,0)+t(2,−1,2)\mathbf r=(1,2,0)+t(2,-1,2) with r=(1,2,0)+s(−4,2,−4)\mathbf r=(1,2,0)+s(-4,2,-4). Predict whether the geometric line changes, then match the points at t=0,1,2t=0,1,2 using values of ss. Compare the distances from the base point with the parameter magnitudes. Finally suppose each parameter is elapsed seconds from a common start: explain how the motions differ even though the supporting line is the same.
