A hint to get started

Change both the variable and the limits

Evaluate ∫48x+1xx−2 dx\int_4^8\frac{x+1}{x\sqrt{x-2}}\,dx exactly, using the substitution u=x−2u=\sqrt{x-2}.

CJC · Lecture · Example 4

The Teacher circles the changed limits, annotates du/dx=1/(2u), recalls the inverse-tangent antiderivative and crosses out an unnecessary +C.

Square the defining substitution, differentiate implicitly, perform long division and substitute the new limits directly; returning to x is unnecessary.
